The FBC Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of assigned nursing units to ensure safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care. This role provides daily frontline supervision of nursing staff, assists with patient flow and bed management, and supports clinical decision-making. The FBC Supervisor collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to address clinical, operational, and staffing challenges in real time and ensures compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and best practices. This is a part time, hourly position, working 20 hours per week.

Requirements

  • BSN required or equivalent experience. MSN preferred. MS in Business or Healthcare Administration also considered.
  • Current Washington State RN license.
  • Certification in clinical area of expertise preferred.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (HCP) level to be completed within six (6) months of hire.
  • Prior experience/expertise for three years in clinical area relevant to unit patient population required.
  • Two years of charge nurse, team leader or other leadership experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates competency on equipment listed on department specific checklist.

  • Frequent periods using a keyboard and other input devices to enter information into computer systems.
  • Frequent periods of stationary work at a computer workstation.
  • Occasional prolonged standing/walking. Occasional lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling.
  • Mild physical effort, lift/carry up to 25+ lbs.
  • Good reading eyesight; full visual acuity, depth perception, and color perception.
  • Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises all FBC professionals in daily operational activities.
  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Maintains appropriate staffing levels by overseeing the professional’s schedule. Reviews and approves time and attendance utilizing timekeeping software under the Direction of the FBC Director.
  • Maintains adequate material/supply by overseeing the procurement of supplies utilizing material management software.
  • Maintains working relationship with FBC vendors, consultants and care providers.
  • Assists the FBC Director in the review and enforcement of departmental policies and procedures. Trains and communications with professionals on new or changed policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with job functions and assignments to efficiently rotate or alternate jobs between the professionals on duty based on their knowledge, skills, and abilities based on organizational need.
  • Ability to fill In as RN doing bedside care as needed.
  • Participate in professional selection, interviews, and onboarding ensuring training and development.
  • Assist with performance evaluations for FBC staff.
  • Works with professionals to educate them on service resolution opportunities with patients and other interdepartmental matters in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization’s values.
  • Conducts quality and safety inspections to ensure work meets or exceeds established standards demonstrating commitment in infection control, safety, quality, customer service, and delivering patient satisfaction.
