About The Position
About the Unit Family Birth Center is a 19 bed unit that provides care for pregnant women. The care on the unit ranges from the delivery and recovery of the mother with a normal, uncomplicated, term pregnancy to that of a high-risk mother, both pre-term and post-delivery. The unit includes a 6 bed natural birth center, 6 bed triage, 4 operating rooms, and a 4 bed recovery room. Antepartum is a 14 bed unit that provides care for women of all ages. The main population is women with complications of pregnancy and health related problems during pregnancy. In addition, when volume demands, Antepartum also provides care to NICU postpartum mothers and gynecology patients. It is a major academic and referral center with Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma designations. The advanced capabilities and clinical expertise within this center have earned it Magnet designation four consecutive times and has the distinct honor of housing Michigan’s first Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence. Scope of work Coordinates aspects of patient care by managing communication and clerical tasks essential to the functioning of the unit. In addition to communication and clerical tasks, she/he monitors and stocks supplies. Provides patient care and related functions as delegated by and under the direction of a registered nurse.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required
Nice To Haves
- Completion of nursing assistant program and/or one year of nursing assistant experience preferred.
- Nursing Assistant certification preferred.
