About The Position

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Pediatrics, is seeking an outstanding individual for a faculty position in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at UT Southwestern and Children’s Health Dallas in the section of Electrophysiology. Candidates should have three years of General Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship, as well as specialty training in Pediatric Electrophysiology. Candidates should have experience in invasive and non-invasive EP, as well as a strong commitment to patient care, teaching and clinical research. Applicants must be eligible for licensure in the state of Texas and must be board certified in Pediatrics, as well as board eligible or certified in Pediatric Cardiology. The missions of the UT Southwestern Pediatric Cardiology Division are to deliver excellent, high quality/high value care to children today, to advance the field of pediatric cardiology through research and innovation, and to educate future physicians and researchers in the care of children with cardiac and cardiovascular disorders. The Division is among the largest in the nation with more than 40 faculty members who drive forward well-developed clinical and scholarly programs in interventional catheterization and electrophysiology; fetal cardiology, and management of congenital heart disease from infancy to adulthood; heart failure, cardiac transplantation, and cardiovascular disease prevention; critical care medicine; cardiac imaging by echo, CT, and MR; and application of AI tools in numerous aspects of patient care. Expertise in the Division is complemented by multidisciplinary experts from UT Southwestern Pediatric Group physicians in Critical Care Medicine, Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery, Cardiac Anesthesia, Diagnostic Radiology, and Cardiovascular Genetics.The primary site of clinical care is Children’s Health Dallas, one of the nation’s largest children’s hospitals; there is a busy echo lab and 3 catheterization laboratories. One of the catheterization laboratories is equipped with state-of-the-art EP mapping, including 3D mapping with overlay for ablations. More than 150 ablations are performed each year including SVT, VT and atrial flutter. Transvenous pacemakers, implantable loop recorder and ICD implants are also performed as well as 14,000 EKGs, >800 Holters and >600 pacemaker evaluations/year. With a 22-bed telemetry unit, a 32-bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, a 1.5T cardiac MRI facility, and approximately 24,000 clinic visits/year, the Pediatric Cardiology faculty have resources sufficient to meet present and future needs of children across the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, with a population of more than 7,000,000 and growing. In addition, there is a catheterization laboratory at our Children’s Health Plano hospital with telemetry capabilities for 74 beds, a 12 bed ICU and a robust ambulatory cardiology program with outpatient and inpatient echocardiograms performed.
