About The Position

The Faculty Physician in Hospital Medicine will engage in all missions of the medical school, including teaching and training medical students and residents in clinical education and university courses. Clinical duties involve attending both Hospital Medicine teaching and direct care services at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, which includes supervising and training medical students and residents in hospital medicine care within the University of Minnesota's academic medical centers. This role requires a commitment to clinical/QI/educational scholarship, with advancement dependent on demonstrated clinical and scholarly achievement. The Division of Hospital Medicine is comprised of clinicians, teachers, and educational leaders dedicated to patient care, teaching, and educational leadership. Most faculty are clinical scholars engaged in academic activities related to clinical and educational scholarship. The division also has research and innovation programs in areas such as diagnostic excellence, clinical deterioration, medical education, and global health. This position is part of the M Health Fairview shared care delivery system, a partnership between University of Minnesota Physicians, University of Minnesota Medical Center, and Fairview Health Services, aiming to create a nationally recognized academic health system that integrates academic and community resources for clinical care, research, and education. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited ACGME Internal Medicine or Internal Medicine - Pediatrics residency
  • Board eligible/certified with the Internal Medicine or Internal Medicine – Pediatrics
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Licensed or ability to acquire medical license and DEA in the State of Minnesota
  • Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges
  • Ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of the VISA

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced training in Hospital Medicine, Clinical Informatics, or practice experience
  • Board eligibility or certification in Addiction Medicine
  • Experience and/or training in an area of emphasis within hospital medicine, such as point of care ultrasound, point-of-care procedures, or others

Responsibilities

  • Engage in all missions of the medical school, engaging in the teaching and training of medical students and residents in clinical education as well as university courses
  • Attend on both the Hospital Medicine teaching and direct care services at the University of Minnesota Medical Center
  • Teach, train and supervise medical students and residents during the provision of hospital medicine care within the University of Minnesota's academic medical centers
  • Perform evening, overnight and weekend responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a commitment to clinical/QI/educational scholarship
