About The Position

Department Overview At the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, we are working to lift the burden of cancer from the world. The institute focuses on the early detection, prevention, and treatment of cancer, precision oncology, and creating a welcoming and supportive environment for its caregivers, researchers, and support personnel. The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. The duties of this position are in support of the missions, goals and objectives of OHSU, the School of Medicine, the University hospitals and clinics and include: Drive and participate in the research mission of the university, as applied to patients with multiple myeloma; Participate in the education of medical students and house staff in accordance with assignments to the department by the Curriculum Committee and Chair. It is anticipated this position will be made up of the following components: Research, Clinical, Teaching, and Service. Function/Duties of Position The faculty member will join the Myeloma Team and will collaborate closely with the transplant and cellular therapy programs. Responsibilities to include: Management of patients with multiple myeloma in the outpatient setting Attending on the inpatient bone marrow/hematologic malignancy service with an emphasis on treating patients with lymphoma and multiple myeloma Shared responsibility for on-call coverage Case conferencing with multi-disciplinary teams Coordination of teaching rounds with Fellows and House-staff assigned to the inpatient or outpatient service Growing the myeloma clinical and research programs Fostering collaborative relationships with referring physicians and organizations Medical direction to CHM Data Managers and Nurse Coordinators Experience and expertise in the establishment and maintenance of comprehensive CHM databases Development and participation in clinical trials Participation in administrative committees and councils of OHSU as approved by the Chair and Division Head Engage in public service through consultative activities with non-university groups with knowledge and consent of the Chair and Division Head.

Requirements

  • MD, MD/PhD
  • Licensed to practice medicine in Oregon
  • Board certified in Internal Medicine
  • Board eligible/certified in Hematology and/or oncology

Nice To Haves

  • Proven success working with multi-disciplinary teams, history of training focused on the care of myeloma patients including bone marrow transplant, conducting research in hematologic malignancies, and success in obtaining extramural funds for clinical trials and/or basic science research.

Responsibilities
