An exciting opportunity has been created for an experienced cancer researcher to join the Department of Cell, Developmental & Cancer Biology (CDCB) and Knight Cancer Institute, and Division of Hematology & Oncology in the Department of Medicine as an Assistant Professor, at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR. The successful candidate will have a successful basic research program with a translational focus in thoracic malignancies and other solid tumors, and accomplishments commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent basic and highly translational research program that will achieve national and international recognition, and will be closely aligned to clinical research efforts in a manner that is prospectively designed to improve the clinical outcome for people with or at risk for cancer. Creative leaders who are also team players are sought. The successful candidate will join the CDCB Dept and Div of Hem/Onc, within the NCI designated Knight Cancer Institute (Knight) that have significantly expanded laroratory-based basic and translational research across several areas of cancer. We seek applicants seeking a rich environment characterized by a high level of prior accomplishments that have served to alter central aspects of cancer research, treatment and prevention, that is highly dynamic, and that provides access to a wide range of scientific resources. The laboratory will reside in close proximity to tother basic/translational scientists within the new Knight Cancer Research Building. This rich working environment will allow for access to a wide range of scientific equipment and collaborators. The candidate will be expected to seek both intramural and external funding. They will also take on occasional teaching assignments within the university, consistent with the education mission of the institution. The individual will have demonstrated success in leading and managing projects and a distinguished record of scientific and technical accomplishments.
