About The Position

The University of St. Thomas (UST)-Houston, a private Catholic University committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, invites applications from outstanding candidates for a full-time, non-tenure-track (NTT) position in electrical engineering. The Department of Physics and Engineering at the University of St. Thomas invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position in electrical engineering. We seek candidates passionate about teaching and hands-on education with a strong experimental research and teaching background in electrical engineering who are enthusiastic about mentoring undergraduate students and supporting applied learning.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated teaching, mentoring, and research experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to the mission of the University of St. Thomas.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry or academic experience in any of the following areas: communication systems, electronic systems design and manufacturing, electrical generation, transmission and distribution systems, control of industrial and robotic systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial safety practices, compliance, and/or risk engineering is a plus.
  • Prior experience in curriculum or lab development at the university level.
  • PE license for electrical engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in electrical engineering
  • Develop, update, and manage laboratory curricula and experiments
  • Supervise undergraduate student projects and capstone design experiences
  • Collaborate with faculty on curriculum development and program assessment
  • Engage in professional development and/or applied research related to experimental electrical engineering education.
  • Provide academic advising and mentoring to students as needed
  • Service activities as needed by the department and the university
  • Developing a research program involving and suited for undergraduate student participation
