The Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering in the School of Science and Engineering at Saint Louis University seeks a dynamic, collegial, collaborative, and creative individual for a tenure-track position in aerospace engineering. This position offers the opportunity to be a member of one of the oldest aerospace engineering programs in a rapidly-growing engineering school in the heart of St. Louis, a city with strong connections to the aerospace and defense industries. The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses in the aerospace curriculum at undergraduate and graduate levels and to develop a sponsored research program. The expectation is to hire at the rank of assistant professor; however, candidates with exceptional qualifications will be considered for appointment at higher ranks, including those with tenure. We invite applications from highly qualified individuals for a tenure-track faculty position in the following broad areas: smart/adaptive aerospace structures , advanced/multifunctional aerospace materials , aeroelasticity and structural dynamics , aerospace robotics , space structures and deployables , digital twins and resilient systems , autonomy and AI/ML for aerospace systems . Other areas of aerospace engineering will be considered, particularly if they complement existing program strengths and could collaborate in campus-level research initiatives at SLU (modeling & simulation, artificial intelligence, and geospatial applications).
