About The Position
The University of St. Thomas (UST)-Houston, a private Catholic University committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, invites applications from outstanding candidates for a full-time, non-tenure-track (NTT) position in chemical engineering. The Department of Physics and Engineering at the University of St. Thomas invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position in Chemical Engineering, with a particular emphasis on lab-based instruction, design projects, and capstone supervision. The department seeks candidates passionate about teaching and hands-on education with a strong experimental research and teaching background in chemical engineering who are enthusiastic about mentoring undergraduate students and supporting applied learning.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
- Demonstrated experience with experimental methods and lab instruction.
- Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to the mission of the University of St. Thomas.
Nice To Haves
- Industry or academic experience with chemical process equipment, instrumentation, or laboratory management.
- Familiarity with process safety, data acquisition systems, and chemical analysis techniques.
- Prior experience in curriculum or lab development at the university level.
- Industry experience and a PE license.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in chemical engineering, with a particular focus on lab and design courses.
- Develop, update, and manage laboratory curricula and experiments.
- Supervise undergraduate student projects and capstone design experiences.
- Maintain and improve experimental facilities, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with faculty on curriculum development and program assessment.
- Engage in professional development and/or applied research related to experimental chemical engineering education.
- Provide academic advising and mentoring to students as needed.
- Service activities as needed by the department and the university.
- Developing a research program involving and suited for undergraduate student participation.
