About The Position

The College of Theology and Christian Ministries at Northwest Nazarene University has a respected tradition of service to the institution, the denomination, the region, and the communities of southwest Idaho. The College consists of the undergraduate Department of Philosophy and Religion (which services the general education program of the University and offers several academic majors: Biblical Studies, Christian Ministry, Intercultural Ministry, Philosophy, Philosophy and Religion, and Youth Ministry) and the Northwest Nazarene Divinity School (which offers fully online ThD degrees in both English and Spanish, Master of Divinity and Master of Arts degrees in Missional Leadership; Pastoral Ministry; and Spiritual Formation.) The College presently consists of nine full-time faculty members who are actively engaged in both academic conversations and church ministry. Description of Position The College of Theology and Christian Ministries of Northwest Nazarene University is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member (Professor of Scriptural Studies, rank and specialty open) to begin in the Fall of 2026. This position will include teaching courses in scriptural studies (both general education courses in scriptural studies and online master's courses in scriptural studies as well as more specialized courses in either Old or New Testament exegesis, according to the candidate’s expertise), along with academic advising and other faculty responsibilities within the University and College. Requirements

  • Applicants are preferred to possess a completed Ph.D. in a discipline within the field of scriptural studies (although ABD will be considered)
  • Candidates need to be ordained ministers or pursing ordination in the Church of the Nazarene
  • All candidates approach theology from a Wesleyan theological perspective
  • Be in agreement with the mission and doctrines of the Church of the Nazarene
  • Agree to live within the mission and lifestyle values of NNU
  • Be willing to help advance the mission and vision of the University
  • Be an active participant in the Church of the Nazarene
