About The Position

The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership and student instruction on a part-time basis in English courses. This role will instruct and evaluate students in English courses such as English Composition I & II and Technical and Professional Communication.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in English or closely related discipline.
• Master's Degree in English, or closely related discipline.
• Equivalent of three years teaching high school English classes or one year (two semesters) teaching English Composition or Technical Communication/Technical Writing for a college.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, staff, and the public.
• Sensitivity to the expectations of students, faculty, and staff.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
• Developed organizational skills.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues.

Nice To Haves

• Coursework in or experience using technology in instruction.
• Experience in business or industry producing written documents (for internal or external audiences).

Responsibilities

• Instruct and evaluate students in English courses such as English Composition I & II and Technical and Professional Communication.
• Maintain accurate written records of student performance.
• Take attendance and maintain records of student attendance.
• Participate in School assessment process.
• Maintain office hours according to the standardized part-time teaching agreement.
• Attend department and School meetings as requested.
