Westcliff University is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time College of Technology and Engineering faculty member role to support its mission, core values, and student success. Under the guidance of the Dean and Program Chairs, full-time faculty members provide exemplary instruction and support to students.

Requirements

  • Appropriate teaching credentials.
  • Academically qualified.
  • Taught at least five courses at the undergraduate or graduate levels before a full-time appointment.
  • Possess a terminal degree in their field.
  • Considerable industry experience.
  • Proven excellence in both online and on-campus teaching formats.
  • Strong experience in Software Development, including Web Development.
  • Ability to travel once or twice a year to satellite campuses to attend Professional Weekends or to teach at international affiliate institutions (about 10% travel).
  • Commit a minimum of 40 hours weekly.
  • Be present on one of Westcliff’s campuses whenever possible to foster faculty collegiality and enhance student accessibility.
  • Hold regular office hours virtually to ensure access for colleagues and students throughout the year.
  • Qualified to teach at least 8 courses in 2 or more disciplines.
  • Mastery of effective instructional strategies both online and on campus.
  • Dedication to student and institutional success.
  • Relevant industry experience and classroom insight.
  • Knowledge and commitment to conduct scholarly activities to contribute to the field of practice.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Excellent collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in Learning Management System and relevant technological tools.
  • Terminal degree relevant to university’s programs from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
  • Three to five years of teaching both online and in-person.
  • At least five years of progressive industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Allocate a minimum of 75% (~30 hours weekly) for teaching, doctoral committee, or doctoral chair endeavors, including preparation, instruction, facilitation, support, and evaluation.
  • Take active roles in teaching weekend professional format courses.
  • Attend and participate in three (3), twenty-four hour, Professional Weekend Residencies Weekends per academic year.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to student success outside of classroom commitments.
  • Collaborate with fellow faculty members on curriculum and assessment design and review, including serving as subject matter experts and playing an active role in student outcome assessments and accreditation processes.
  • Mentor and coach other faculty when needed, including new faculty onboarding support.
  • Explore, implement, and measure instructional best practices and innovative ideas for improved student outcomes.
  • Engage in scholarship and research projects that align with university’s priorities and programmatic accreditation requirements.
  • Engage with program chairs and deans in growth and improvement initiatives.
  • Pursue professional development (20-24 hours annually).
  • Participate in college and university governance, such as Program Advisory Council, Faculty Senate quarterly meetings, college faculty meetings, and faculty senate activities.
  • Offer academic advice to referred students.
  • Support the college and colleagues to uphold the institutional mission.
  • Represent Westcliff professionally at internal and external events.
  • Handle other assignments, projects or tasks as needed.
