About The Position

Generally, all faculty members serve multiple roles as teachers, mentors, advisors, colleagues, and scholars. Full-time faculty are expected not only to excel in classroom instruction but also to fulfill various responsibilities as active members of the college community. This faculty position is accountable for accounting and other business-related instruction and evaluation, student advising, committee assignments, and research. Additional business, economics, or finance courses may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Possess thorough and accurate knowledge of the specific field/discipline including the ability to evaluate and apply content.
  • Be committed to professional development by keeping current in the discipline.
  • Have and maintain faculty credentials as required by accrediting agencies.
  • Exhibit mastery of the accounting cycle.
  • Exhibit mastery of the ability to analyze financial statements and information.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of accounting application software.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally through physical or virtual presence, writing, speaking, listening, and electronic skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business with accounting emphasis, or related field.
  • At least two years' accounting experience in industry required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and delivers course content in accordance with the curriculum. Instruction for Accounting and other courses may be delivered face‑to‑face or online, or hybrid.
  • Plans and conducts lectures, discussions, and laboratory sessions.
  • Assesses and evaluates student performance through assignments, exams, and projects.
  • Provides constructive feedback to students to facilitate their academic progress.
  • Advises students on academic and career-related matters.
  • Mentor students in research projects, internships, and other academic pursuits.
  • Engages in scholarly activities, research, and professional development.
  • Participates in departmental and institutional committees.
  • Contributes to the overall academic and administrative functions of the college.
  • Stays current with educational trends and methodologies.
  • Attends workshops, conferences, and other professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborates with local community organizations and industry partners.
  • Participates in outreach activities and contributes to community development.
  • Utilizes technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance the learning experience.
  • Incorporates online resources and tools into course delivery where applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and institutional policies.
  • Participates in assessment and evaluation processes to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Recruits accounting concentration students.
  • Assesses the accounting concentration program and makes improvements as necessary.
  • Updates business curriculum to meet industry standards.
  • Serves on committees as required or assigned.
  • Remains active in related professional arenas.
  • Teaches a variety of accounting courses, including Principles of Accounting, Payroll Accounting, Computerized Accounting with QuickBooks software, Income Tax Accounting, Introduction to Financial Management, and Financial Literacy.
