About The Position

Annually, the Nestlé Purina team in Flagstaff proudly mass manufactures 280,000 tons of dry pet food from our Dog Chow®, Beneful®, Nestlé Purina ONE®, Alpo®, and Pro Plan® brands. Our factory is also proud to do our part to care for the environment, like conserving water, investing in renewable electricity and maintaining zero waste for disposal. As the Factory Quality Technician, you’ll accurately sample inbound grain, soft stock, liquid, frozen, and sacked ingredients arriving in bulk trucks, railcars, tankers, and trailers. Your skills in performing physical and chemical evaluations of ingredient samples to ensure compliance with food safety, regulatory, and quality specifications will make you a key collaborator when communicating all quality results plus recommended corrections to production personnel. The schedule for this position is: Friday, Saturday and Sunday – 6:00 pm – 6:00 am

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of experience in quality, manufacturing, food manufacturing, or related environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong mathematical skills preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform shipping container inspections on all inbound ingredient shipments.
  • Perform physical and chemical analyses of ingredients analyze results.
  • Complete sampling methods as defined by quality and safety procedures including working at heights, wearing required fall protection for railcar or truck sampling, etc.
  • Repetitive lifting and problem solving required during sampling of railcars.
  • Sampling both rail cars and trucks is done in an outdoor setting that may be exposed to adverse weather conditions.
  • Interact with proprietary software applications.
  • Perform testing methods including mycotoxin testing, temperature measurements, free fatty acid, and NIR test; verify all grains meet HACCP requirements.
  • Perform finished product testing and coordinate with other departments to meet the productions needs of the day.
