Performs a variety of duties involving general facilities maintenance under minimal supervision. Work is assigned and tracked using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and all work orders are assigned and downloaded to technician carried smart devices. The Facility Technician monitors and operates HVAC systems and is responsible for the ongoing preventative maintenance and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical and other installed systems, including fire and security alarms. The role requires day-to-day coordination of building maintenance (reactive and preventative). The Facility Technician works closely with and coordinates the efforts of Electricians, Plumbers, HVAC Technicians, Engineers, Special Services Workers, Locksmiths, Construction Managers, and Contractors to ensure that facilities meet legal requirements and health and safety standards. The Facility Technician is the primary contact for facility related emergencies, which may require evening and weekend work. Work is performed in a broad variety of university facilities including academic and administrative buildings, all sports venues, food service kitchens and cafeterias, student residence halls, and student apartments. The Facility Technician should be professional, customer-focused and able to work in a diverse and dynamic environment. The Facility Technician must be able to use time and resources effectively and efficiently, have excellent interpersonal skills and organizational and project management skills.
