About The Position

The Facility Security Officer (FSO) will be responsible for establishing and managing a compliant industrial security program. This role will implement and lead all aspects of the company’s classified security infrastructure in accordance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and related Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community regulations. The FSO will partner closely with executive leadership, program management, and government representatives to develop sustainable processes, ensure the protection of classified information, and foster a strong culture of security across the organization.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship and an active Top Secret security clearance (SCI eligibility preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial security, including 2+ years in a Facility Security Officer or senior security management role supporting cleared defense programs.
  • Proven ability to establish or rebuild an industrial security program; experience leading a facility through its initial DCSA certification is strongly preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of NISPOM, DoDM 5220.22, DCSA processes, and federal security compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with government officials, contractors, and internal leadership.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Industrial Security Professional (ISP®) or Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC).
  • Experience supporting Special Access Programs (SAP) or SCI environments.
  • Familiarity with ITAR, EAR, and export control regulations.
  • Prior experience standing up a cleared contractor facility in the aerospace and defense industry.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the company’s facility security program, including all policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks required under NISPOM and other federal security standards.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) and other government security offices regarding facility clearances, personnel clearances, and compliance activities.
  • Establish foundational security systems and tools, including JPAS/DISS, NISS, and eQIP accounts, and ensure proper integration with internal HR and IT systems.
  • Develop the company’s Insider Threat Program, training plans, and self-inspection protocols.
  • Lead DCSA vulnerability assessments and ensure all identified findings are addressed and closed.
  • Design and deliver company-wide security training, briefings, and communication programs that instill awareness and accountability.
  • Partner with IT, Operations, and Engineering to create secure facility spaces, control plans, and technology safeguards to protect classified and controlled unclassified information (CUI).
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align security policies with business growth, program development, and federal contracting opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary security advisor to leadership, providing strategic guidance on clearance management, facility upgrades, and compliance planning.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to staff as the security team grows, creating a scalable and future-ready security organization.
