In 2026, GE Aerospace Dayton Cores and Castings is expected to expand process capability and capacity via capital expense investment. In addition to installing several pieces of new equipment, the plant will need strategic rearrangement of existing assets and production cells. To accomplish this initiative, a new Facilities Project team is being created to help complete the workflow of a new piece of capital equipment. GE Process Engineers are the technical experts and will be responsible for drafting the scope of work for the capex equipment and fit this information into the Investment Review Board (IRB) template. The Facility Project Engineering team will review the bid documentation and contribute relevant details for consideration. Industrial Engineering will then manage the P&E process, lead 3P events and set the preliminary timeline. Once project approval and procurement has commenced, the Facility Project team will take ownership of the plant rearrangement and execution of the equipment installation. Upon the completion of installation, the equipment will be formally accepted by engineering and qualified for production against factory acceptance test protocol and exit criteria, including any performance guarantees. Finally, GE LEAN Team will implement standard work, with adherence to 5S. Operations is accountable for sustainment.
