About the Museum: The Oklahoma City Museum of Art is one of the leading arts institutions in the region. What We’re Looking For: We’re looking for a hands-on and detail-oriented Facility Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and safety of the Museum’s buildings and grounds. In this essential role, you will ensure that all facilities, including public spaces, offices, and production areas, are well-maintained, safe, and fully operational to support staff, visitors, and programming. You’ll lead maintenance and custodial efforts, manage vendors, and collaborate across departments to support exhibitions and special events.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in building operations, maintenance, or facilities management.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance systems.
  • Familiarity with building codes, OSHA requirements, and ADA regulations.
  • Experience supervising maintenance and/or custodial staff preferred, with a demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop team members.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and service.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, HVAC, Facilities Management) preferred.
  • Experience with Metasys HVAC system is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all Museum facilities, including buildings, grounds, and equipment through a proactive preventive maintenance program.
  • Conduct routine building walk-throughs to identify and address maintenance needs such as lighting, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities are completed efficiently, cost-effectively, and in accordance with established standards.
  • Supervise and support facilities staff, providing day-to-day direction, assigning tasks, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and policies.
  • Monitor quality of work, identify issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all fire, life safety, sanitation, OSHA, and regulatory requirements, including inspections and follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to address maintenance requests and support operational needs across departments.
  • Collaborate with staff to plan and execute facility support for special events, including set-up and tear-down.
  • Manage inventory levels and approve purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
  • Respond to facility-related emergencies and coordinate with Director appropriate corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
  • Oversee departmental expenses within approved budget parameters.
  • Serve as the primary on-site contact for service vendors, ensuring work is completed safely and to standard.
