About The Position

Under the direction of the Facility Coordinator [Adult Programs Specialist], the Facility Monitor provides customer service, guidance, and direction to instructors, participants, renters, and community members while monitoring building activities to ensure adherence to the facility policy. This position will report directly to the Facility Coordinator and is responsible to that person and to the Adult Programs Manager for the proper interpretation and performance of the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Requirements

  • The ability to communicate clearly to adults concerning policy, mission, and procedure.
  • Fluency in English.
  • High School graduate or equivalent experience
  • Ability to apply problem solving skills in handling program issues and concerns.
  • Ability to read, write, follow instructions, and manage time and responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred second language skills, Spanish or Somali.
  • Preferred knowledge and experience working with culturally, economically, and socially diverse community organizations, groups, families, and individuals.
  • Working knowledge of web-based systems and computer software programs.
  • Ability to complete CPR/First Aid certification and keep them up to date desired.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and implement quality customer service.
  • Open and close district fields and/or buildings as scheduled for Community Education sponsored program activities, public use, and other scheduled functions.
  • Greet guests, follow log in/out procedures, and provide directions when needed.
  • Monitor activities of individuals who use the facilities or attend events, ensuring all users comply with Community Education facility-use procedures and school district rules and policies.
  • Accommodate, whenever possible, special requests from users that were not anticipated.
  • Communicate with and develop good rapport with building operation supervisors, custodial engineers, and other building staff.
  • Turn off lights and notify custodian(s) before departing the building.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and/or injuries; call 911 if necessary; knowledge of safety and emergency procedures of the building.
  • Promptly complete and submit required reports (including, but not limited to: facility use logs, accident/incident reports, and maintenance observations) to Community Education.
  • Observe activities in and around the building to help prevent property damage or theft.
  • Report illegal activity to the police and Community Education.
  • Remain alert to potentially unsafe conditions; stop any unsafe or questionable activities.
  • Support with event set-up, may include AV equipment, sports nets and/or other equipment.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Racial Equity Transformation.
  • Participate in training as requested; attend staff meetings as needed.
  • Maintain professional composure while dealing with a variety of personalities and situations.
  • Show initiative and function as a self-starter.
  • Promote a positive image of the program by maintaining open and positive communication between sites, school staff and community.
  • Serve as an ambassador for all Community Education programs, providing resources and referrals to customer inquiries.
