About The Position

The Manager On Duty (MOD) serves as the senior on-site leader during assigned evening and weekend shifts at the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston. This position is responsible for facility supervision, member experience, frontline staff support, and safe building operations during hours of assignment. The MOD ensures a welcoming, safe, and well-managed environment for members, guests, and staff. Facility Oversight Maintain a visible presence throughout all areas of the facility, including Main J facility, Aquatics, Basketball Gym, Gymnastics, Tennis Center, and Indoor Playscape. Monitor unstaffed or minimally staffed areas to ensure safety and policy compliance. Conduct routine walkthroughs and address issues proactively. Member Experience Serve as primary point of contact for member concerns and escalated situations. Resolve conflicts professionally and in alignment with J policies. Model exceptional customer service and hospitality standards. Staff Leadership While On Duty Provide direction and real-time support to Welcome Desk, Fitness Desk, Tennis, Aquatics and porter staff. Assist with operational decision-making and problem-solving during shifts. Reinforce policies and service expectations. Safety & Closing Operations Respond to incidents and coordinate with Security when necessary. Complete incident reports and submit maintenance requests as needed. Oversee evening closing procedures and ensure the facility is secure. AGENCY EXPECTATIONS Attend all staff meetings and gatherings. Participate in agency in-service trainings and programs. Provide administrative support for agency events. Provide administrative support for other areas of the agency when needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills
  • Professional, dependable, and able to lead calmly in high-pressure situations
