Facility Maintenance Technician-Mechanical Trades (HVAC focus)
About The Position
Primary Purpose Of Position Position is independently responsible for the repair and maintenance of Heating and Cooling systems and equipment in his assigned zone. Using electrical test devices to troubleshoot and repair electrical control circuits. Will assist with other maintenance projects in the 18 residence halls. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Trainee/Apprenticeship: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. After successful completion of a one year apprenticeship in the assigned trade(s), the position can be updated to the Contributing Level. Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis
Nice To Haves
- Certified to work with refrigerant
- Experience in electrical both high voltage 230/460 volt 3-phase) and low voltage (24-110 volt controls)
- Experience installing HVAC units, wire controls, and fabricating and installing ductwork and associated piping
- Experience removing and replacing controlling valves, joints, or lengths of pipe for heating/chilled water, and steam distribution systems
- Experience overhauling small reciprocal compressors
- Checks accuracy and calibrates electrical, pneumatic, electrical and electronic control systems
- Strong written communication in application materials
- Experience with work order system
- Multiple years experience in building and mechanical trades
- Experience working in university residence halls and HVAC equipment in a university setting
