The Kentucky Department of Parks is currently seeking a full-time Facility Maintenance Supervisor I to operate and oversee all facets of facility maintenance at Big Bone Lick State Historic Site. Known nationally as the Birthplace of American Vertebrate Paleontology, this is an amazing opportunity to be involved in a beautiful, natural park setting with a rich variety of history. We are seeking a person with a diverse background in maintenance, whether that be mechanical, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, ventilation, HVAC, groundskeeping, heavy equipment operation, trails maintenance, and supervisory. The ideal candidate is responsible for evaluating problematic systems and facilities; therefore, using their knowledge in determining repair services and best practices. An excellent maintenance supervisor candidate must have a great eye for detail with determination to complete tasks. Big Bone Lick State Historic Site is located in Boone County, near Union, Kentucky. It boasts a museum with displays on paleontology, geology, ice age mammals, Native American history and more. There is a 62-site campground, including a swimming pool and playground areas, in addition to the Visitor Center, Museum, and Trails. There are also live bison on display for visitor observation!
