About The Position

The Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution is seeking a temporary Facility Maintenance Specialist. This role involves performing skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance on facility buildings, grounds, and equipment. The specialist will be responsible for completing assigned work orders, assisting with daily operations, and ensuring facilities are maintained in a safe, functional, and efficient condition. The work encompasses various building trades, including carpentry, plumbing support, electrical support, painting, welding, lock repair, and general maintenance. Additionally, the position requires assisting with grounds maintenance, material handling, and tool inventory, all while adhering to safety, security, and operational procedures. Daily assignments will vary based on facility needs and workload. This temporary appointment is anticipated to last 6 months, with potential for extension or reduction based on business needs. The position is unrepresented and may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through PERS.

Requirements

  • Two years of general building maintenance, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, painting, or plastering experience
  • A journeyman's license/card in any of the above trades will substitute for the experience requirement
  • Operate and maintain a variety of hand, power and pneumatic tools
  • Perform semi-skilled tasks of various trades
  • Evaluate information against a set of standards and verify that it is correct
  • Identify the nature of repair and maintenance problems
  • Talk to others to effectively convey information

Responsibilities
