About The Position

Under direct or Indirect supervision of the Custodial Manager and/or Custodial Supervisor, Facility Maintainers perform a variety of custodial tasks and activities designed to maintain the campus in an orderly, sanitary, safe, and attractive condition. Work activities are scheduled and unscheduled in nature and are subject to frequent interruptions. This position works Saturday and Sunday 5:00am to 1:30pm and 3 weekdays' from 4:30AM to 1:00 PM. Principal Working Relationships: Greets all students and staff in a friendly, timely manner and assists as necessary, e.g., holding doors. helping with wheelchairs, providing directions and/or information when requested. Performs as a team, or as directed for seasonal or periodic cleaning operations Interacts with departmental personnel Treats all personnel with respect and dignity Uses constructive feedback to get ideas across and recognizes positive results

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in the custodial operations with the University or equivalent experience with supervisory qualifications
  • An excellent performance end attendance record
  • Proven track record of leadership capabilities
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and communicate in writing using the English language.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to consistency meet the department work schedule es designated.
  • Ability to satisfactorily complete Department training programs.
  • Ability to work with chemical fluids used for cleaning, waxing and/or disinfecting.
  • Capable of self-initiation of required duties of a general or specific nature.
  • Ability to work under stress and around normal conditions that exist In a university setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Must have a valid Iowa Driver's license, good driving record and insurable by Drake

Responsibilities

  • Vacuums, dust mops. damp and wet mop stairwells. restrooms, hallways, classrooms and offices.
  • cleans and disinfects areas by washing with germicidal cleaning solutions, polish sinks, drinking fountains, toilets, mirrors and similar apparatus; spot wash walls, light switches and telephones; wash or dean windows and door glass; keep all debris in area picked up.
  • Utilizes chemical supplies and equipment to complete tasks, including exercising judgment to choose appropriate chemical and equipment for each task.
  • Collects and removes trash and recycle waste inside and outside of University buildings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
