The Facility Engineering Technician II is responsible for independently maintaining and troubleshooting critical data center infrastructure. This role ensures high availability and operational efficiency by executing maintenance, supporting installations, and resolving issues across electrical, mechanical, and cooling systems. The Technician II works with minimal supervision and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives. Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in facilities engineering, mechanical, electrical, or related field preferred
  • 2–5 years of experience in data center, critical facilities, or similar environment
  • Hands-on experience with electrical distribution and cooling systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Working knowledge of building management systems (BMS) such as Niagara
  • Familiarity with ticketing and asset management systems (e.g. ServiceNow)
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain critical infrastructure systems (UPS, generators, ATS, HVAC, cooling systems)
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis of facility issues
  • Execute and document preventative and corrective maintenance activities
  • Support and coordinate vendor work, including maintenance and repairs
  • Assist with planning and implementation of infrastructure upgrades and expansions
  • Support installation of racks, cabling, and customer equipment
  • Ensure compliance with operational standards, SLAs, and uptime requirements
  • Update and maintain documentation, procedures, and asset records
  • Participate in incident response and after-action reviews
  • Provide guidance and support to Technician I team members
