The primary role of the Facility Engineer at The Charleston Place is to ensure proper maintenance and safety in accordance with hotel standards. The Facility Engineer is the advanced troubleshooter who steps in when a task exceeds the time or expertise of the Duty Engineer DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain accurate records on preventative maintenance and repairs. Perform advanced maintenance, preventative maintenance, inspections, and emergency repairs as assigned. Takeover jobs that exceed the Duty Engineer's time, scope, or abilities. Maintain, repair, and care for the central plant Adhere to safety, security, and emergency procedures, react appropriately during emergencies, and act promptly to correct hazards. Adhere to security procedures concerning the handling of guest room and master keys, security of boiler and electrical rooms, and other engineering areas, proper storage of all chemicals, etc. Listen to and promptly act to resolve guest problems and complaints with a strong emphasis on customer service. Have advanced experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems and plumbing systems, including drain line clearing. Have advanced carpentry skills. Have strong mechanical skills for the operation and repair of hotel equipment, and possess the knowledge and ability to perform a variety of general maintenance repairs. Possess a strong drive to overcome roadblocks and complete all assigned and necessary tasks. Clean and organize the engineering shop and spaces. Keeps the Chief Engineer or Director of Engineering promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance so that prompt corrective action can be taken.
