About The Position

The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Public Buildings, seeks a Facility Architectural Assessor. The candidate will be responsible for conducting condition assessments in City-owned buildings. The selected candidate will assess the physical condition of the exterior and interior building components and the building’s overall code compliance, sustainability and resiliency and outline immediate and potential problem areas so that informed decisions can be made, and priorities can be set. Coordinate and advise on the ADA surveys being performed simultaneously to synthesize findings. Candidate will record existing conditions; provide code and local laws analysis and prepare facility assessment reports suitable for sponsor agency budget planning purposes.

Requirements

  • A valid New York State Registration as an Architect. Current New York State Registration as an Architect must be maintained for the duration of your employment.
  • In addition to above qualification requirements, to be eligible for placement in Assignment Levels II and III, individuals must have at least one year within the last three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project.
  • Only candidates who are permanent in the Architect title, reachable on the Open-Competitive List (Exam #3040), or the Open-Competitive Exam #5009 in August 2024 may apply.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required for this position.
