About The Position

River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Garden Spot Foods, distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY. This role is based in our Frozen Warehouse location and is integral to reliable and safe Facility operation. This position reports directly to the Facility Manager/lead. You will diagnose facility related problems and decide the best way to repair them. It is your responsibility to not only make quality long lasting repairs but also continuously improve the method and techniques used. They should be able to keep their work area clean and organized as to be an example for other employees.

Requirements

  • Good mechanical aptitude and ability, basic knowledge of motive electricity and good customer relations skills.
  • Self-starter and creative problem solver.
  • Ability to read schematics, diagrams, operations manuals, manufacturer's specifications and follow instructions.
  • Must maintain acceptable driving record.
  • Must be willing to work overtime or weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, preventative maintenance and repairs on wrap machines, HVACR units, dock levelers, and trash compactor/bailers.
  • Inspect, operate or test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions, detect potential problems, and locate damage, defects or wear
  • Read electrical and hydraulic schematics to trace problems to the route cause, in order to fix the problem right the first time
  • Isolate electrical circuits and perform electrical repairs
  • Perform basic carpentry repairs
  • Install metal studs, drywall and have the ability to finish drywall all the way to paint
  • Work either independently or as part of a team to complete required tasks including installations, repairs, inspections and regular maintenance throughout our warehouses
  • Account for all parts, materials, tools and consumables used as required.
  • Attend meeting, training classes and other company activities as required.
  • Report all accidents, injuries, safety violations and unsafe working conditions immediately.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures; such as, OSHA, safety, and SQF
  • Work with all departments and employees to insure quality and customer service
  • Perform other relevant facility and equipment relevant duties
