About The Position

Job Summary: The Facilities Technician supports the shipyard, adjacent areas, internal and external customers, while performing routine maintenance, ensuring the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of facilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Performing general and detailed maintenance, such as changing light bulbs, patching, hardware repairs, and manual repairs Assisting laggers with organization of insulations materials, measuring cuts, applying insulation Cleaning interior and exterior spaces, including floors, walls, windows, and doors. They may also clean restrooms, break rooms, and offices Moving materials: Using equipment like forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks Interacting with facilities managers, other maintenance staff, customers and crews, and company employees Helps to maintains adequate custodial and breakroom supply stocks Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • The ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas.
  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills are required
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and instructions
  • Ability to take directions and follow instructions
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Ability to work a variety of assignments and locations on a daily or hourly basis
  • Strong ability to be reliable, dependable, and work as a team
  • Follow oral and written instructions; maintain cooperative working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse population
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job are medium/heavy in nature.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach with hands and arms, and climb stairs
  • Tasks include the need for hand finger dexterity, clear speech, hearing/listening, reading and writing, and lifting
  • Physical ability to lift, push, pull and carry 50+ lbs.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, talk or hear
  • The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • Works in all areas of the shipyard, docks, and offices
  • Hearing warning signals and reading and comprehending safety instructions.
  • Must be able to maintain general safety awareness and avoid hazards commonly present in employee’s work area.
