About The Position

The Facilities Technician will oversee maintenance and repair of all CTC facilities and grounds. This position will maintain equipment, vehicles, and structures and ensure buildings and grounds are maintained. May construct small projects. Reports To: Director of Network Operations FLSA Status: Non-Exempt In addition to the above, this position will perform other work related duties as assigned. These tasks do not meet the Americans With Disabilities Act definition of essential job functions and are usually less than 5% of time spent. However, these tasks still constitute important performance aspects of the job. Requirements

  • Knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Knowledge of general building and grounds repair and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
  • Skill in operating various hand and power tools.
  • Skill in operating various grounds and maintenance equipment including mower, weed eater, snow blower, forklift, Skid Steer, truck and trailer.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or related software necessary to create and maintain reports and logs.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and maintain all safety standards.
  • Ability to obtain health card or CDL license.
  • Ability to obtain or have a Boiler Operator's License.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and an insurable driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus one to two years’ experience in facilities maintenance and support.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain forklift certification within 3 months of employment and understand OSHA regulations.
  • Must be able to obtain Boiler Operator’s license within 6 months of employment.
  • Valid MN driver’s license and health card required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear.
  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day.
  • The employee must frequently lift or move items over 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Existing Boiler Operator's License preferred.
  • CDL License preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules routine maintenance for heating and cooling systems.
  • Maintains buildings by inspecting and repairing plumbing, building fixtures and woodwork as needed.
  • May construct small projects using hand and power tools and fix items such as fences, signs and gates.
  • Receives, manages, and processes work order request; ensures problems are resolved quickly.
  • Drafts and implements preventive maintenance schedules for buildings and equipment.
  • Performs routine maintenance including replacing light bulbs, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures and performing simple repairs to furnishings as needed.
  • Assists maintenance technicians upon request.
  • Coordination of contractors to ensure grounds work at all CTC locations are maintained. Including but not limited to the following: snow removal; lawn care (mowing, spring/fall maintenance); fertilizing; irrigation systems; landscaping; parking lot (asphalt maintenance, striping)
  • Maintains grounds of all CTC locations and ensures that necessary contractors for each building are established and contract is upheld.
  • Reports to work at appropriate time to provide snow removal and clear walkways to ensure safe passage has occurred prior to staff arrival at all CTC locations.
  • May perform custodial duties as necessary. Works directly with cleaning company to ensure cleaning contracts are upheld.
  • Cleans garages and plant buildings, as necessary, by sweeping, mopping and ensuring floors are in clean condition.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly supply room and common areas.
  • Maintains a clean work environment to comply with all OSHA standards and policies.
  • Manages Fleet maintenance and scheduling of oil changes, vehicle repair, maintenance and other functions.
  • Serves as a member of the Safety Committee. Provides feedback to committee of safety concerns and recommends/ implements improvements.
  • Organizes grounds and set-up of events.
  • Provides support for Sales and Marketing staff with trade show set-up and tear-down. Assists with equipment delivery and on-site construction.
  • May assist with preparing the department budget; reviews monthly financial reports for compliance with budget.
  • When assigned, works with outside contractors needed to resolve specialized problems and works with Director of Network Operations for final approval.
  • Prepares job estimates and bids for projects to be completed by outside contractors.
  • Collaborates regularly with Director of Network Operations to identify renovation or construction needs.
  • Ensures safety standards are followed throughout facility.
  • May be called out after hours and/or weekends for emergency situations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
