Requirements

  • At least one year of building and equipment maintenance or equivalent experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be highly motivated, capable of working with a team and perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Currently hold or must be eligible to possess an Unarmed Private Security certification issued by the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training within 90 days of hire.
  • Aptitude in verbal and written communication, including ability to communicate with individuals of all age groups.
  • Must possess and maintain an Oregon driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform a wide range of potentially complicated repair and maintenance tasks, which may require significant physical exertion.
  • Safely use tools and techniques common in electrical work, heating system, carpentry, plumbing, painting, welding, and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents.
  • Repair plumbing components that include pipes, fixtures, toilets, sinks, drains, valves, and controls.
  • Repair windows, doors, door frames, door locks, alarm systems, and alarm system controls.
  • Perform drywall finish and repair, plaster repair, caulking, painting, and masonry work (e.g. grouting or ceramic tile installation).
  • Troubleshoot electrical switches, outlets, lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, and fuses, and demonstrate familiarity with operation of Facilities power generators and the automatic transfer switch.
  • Repair mechanical equipment that includes power tools, power mowers, hedge clippers, and other devices typically used by Department staff.
  • Ensure that Department equipment functions properly.
  • Check boiler room condition, perform boiler blowdown, and repair oil pumps and valves.
  • Troubleshoot problems with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, and air conditioning units, chillers, towers, and pumps.
  • Order or obtain materials, supplies, and equipment required to perform tasks related to the position.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of occupational hazards and implement applicable safety measures.
  • On daily basis, respond to Hospital staff maintenance requests, and provide updates about response status.
  • Competently operate life safety equipment and participate in monthly life safety equipment drills.
  • Use electronic media to communicate and to receive information pertinent to the position.
  • During Facilities security provision, survey activity or events that may compromise safety or security of persons or property that are located within Facilities.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Facilities Director or Shift Supervisor. Protect patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal, medical and financial information per HIPAA.
