About The Position

Under the supervision of the Manager, Systems Engineering the Facilities System Engineer is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing the building automation and HVAC control systems that support our campus ministry and operations. This role is integral to our commitment to stewardship-biblical responsibility in managing the resources and physical infrastructure entrusted to us. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Excel.
  • Three years of hands-on experience with building automation systems, maintenance and repair
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting pneumatic, electric, and electronic control devices
  • Ability to read and interpret building system drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC principles, components, and system design
  • Authorized to work in the US legally without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical certification in HVAC or Building Automation Systems preferred
  • Five years of hands-on experience with building automation systems, maintenance and repair

Responsibilities

  • Maintain current knowledge of building automation systems (BAS), including control products, system design, installation standards, and emerging technologies.
  • Develop and apply a strong working knowledge of HVAC principles and their integration with campus building systems.
  • Perform emergency, preventive, and routine maintenance and repairs on pneumatic, electric, and Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems.
  • Conduct service, calibration, and preventive maintenance on thermostats, valves, damper actuators, and related control devices.
  • Evaluate, modify, and optimize control systems to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and energy performance.
  • Recommend, specify, and implement automation-based productivity and energy conservation improvements.
  • Collaborate closely with the Facilities Operations HVAC maintenance team to enhance troubleshooting, coordination, and system performance.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage BAS-related projects, including timelines, priorities, tooling, and resource allocation.
  • Supervise and direct daily work activities of BAS shop personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery.
  • Develop, deliver, and oversee HVAC and BAS training programs; mentor staff in controls operation, troubleshooting, and best practices.
  • Ensure all work complies with environmental, health, safety, and operational standards, fostering a culture of safety and excellence.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of system configurations, maintenance activities, modifications, and communicate technical information effectively to diverse stakeholders.
