About The Position

This full-time Facilities Supervisor position is located at South Suburban Hospital in Haze Crest, IL, operating on a 1st shift schedule from Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with a pay range of $34.90 - $52.35 per hour. The role involves supervising the daily operations of facilities, including the planning, repair, and maintenance of critical systems such as heating/cooling, electrical, emergency power, fire protection, plumbing, grounds, and carpentry. Key responsibilities include establishing work schedules, managing daily assignments, ensuring safety compliance, recommending physical plant improvements, acquiring necessary permits, and coordinating construction projects. The supervisor is also expected to identify opportunities for performance improvement, develop preventative maintenance programs, and provide technical support to various stakeholders and outside contractors. A significant aspect of the role involves human resources duties for staff, including performance coaching, reviews, and making recommendations on hiring, compensation, promotions, and corrective actions, while adhering to the company's ethical conduct code. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree (or equivalent knowledge) in HVAC or related field.
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in plant/facilities operation, mechanical and electrical engineering, and/or HVAC.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes/regulations pertaining to assigned equipment and operations.
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in electricity, plumbing, HVAC, steam fitting, soldering, carpentry, fabricating and groundskeeping.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Excellent communication, organization, prioritization and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the day-to-day facilities operations of the planning, operation, repair, and maintenance of heating/cooling, power plant, electrical, emergency power, and fire protection systems as well as plumbing, grounds, and carpentry.
  • Oversees general department operations, establishes work schedules, issues daily work assignments and responds to requests for service.
  • Identifies and addresses all safety issues.
  • Identifies and recommends changes and improvements in the physical plant to be consistent with appropriate codes and authorities to ensure safe operation.
  • Acquires required permits and prepares reports required by state and local government and other regulatory agencies.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory and accrediting agency standards and guidelines for facilities operations this includes accompanying authorities on inspecting building and utility systems.
  • Coordinates construction projects to include communicating scheduled utility interruptions, reviewing specifications and blueprint documents, inspecting quality of installations and repairs, and ensuring that contractual provisions and construction schedules are met and satisfy appropriate standards.
  • Identifies customer expectations and performance improvement opportunities by identifying and designing processes and services to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Develops and monitors preventative maintenance programs and provides recommendations regarding operational developments.
  • Coordinates programs to maintain buildings and equipment and to procure or generate all utilities and their distribution system.
  • Acts as a resource on more complex maintenance issues and provides technical support to architects, engineers, and consultants.
  • Provides direction to outside contractors on critical mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
  • Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which includes coaching on performance, completes performance reviews and overall staff morale.
  • Recommends hiring, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action decisions, and terminations.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the Aurora Health Care Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to Aurora's business.
