We offer indoor rock climbing, high-end fitness equipment, classes, personal training, and yoga at each of our locations. First Ascent is a growing company, and we are looking for people that will help us continually get better at what we do as we discover how to best serve our members and visitors. We will look to you to help us be creative, think outside the box, evaluate what works and what does not, and implement changes effectively—and have a blast in the process. FA is seeking a proactive, friendly, and independent individual to serve as a Facilities Specialist. As a Facilities Specialist, you will work closely with our Facilities Coordinator to ensure that each of our Chicagoland gyms are looking great, functioning properly and delivering an exceptional experience for our members and guests. This position reports directly to the Facilities Coordinator.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience preferred
- Knowledgeable in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall and painting
- Independently motivated
- Ability to travel to all Chicagoland locations on a regular basis
- Lift certification or prior experience preferred
- Friendly demeanor; Positive attitude; Flexible working style; Creative problem solving skills
Nice To Haves
- Rock climbing experience is a plus!
Responsibilities
- Maintenance and repair
- Water fountain, chalk filtration, and HVAC filter replacements; climbing floor upkeep; fitness equipment maintenance
- Locker door and lock repairs; light ballast replacement; toilet and faucet repair; paint touchup and drywall repair
- Preventative maintenance
- Inspecting various aspects of the facility to ensure potential issues are addressed
- Improvements
- Furniture and fixture construction; light carpentry; fitness equipment installation; lighting installation; flooring installation; other equipment installation
- Emergency repair preparedness
- Water leak, electrical issues, and equipment failure
- Collaborating with management to ensure each gym’s needs are being met
