Step into Your New Role Kleinfelder's Pennsylvania & Maryland offices are seeking experienced Facilities Special Inspector to join our team. Our work increasingly supports owners, facility managers, and investors through roofing, building envelope, canopy, and Property Condition Assessments (PCA), while continuing to deliver IBC Chapter 17 Special Inspections on active construction projects. This role is intentionally structured as a blended inspection position, with the majority of work focused on existing buildings and facilities, complemented by code-required special inspections.

Requirements

  • At least one ICC Special Inspector certification
  • Willingness to obtain additional certifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel
  • Ability to work safely on roofs and construction sites
  • Must have a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record is required.
  • Must be willing to travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Registered Roof Observer (RRO)
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • Multiple ICC Special Inspector certifications
  • Experience with existing-building or facility inspections
  • Demonstrate the ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Must be able to use a computer and have a general knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, and photo management software
  • Ability to learn and grow with technological demands pertaining to daily field reports and field data

Responsibilities

  • Perform roofing system inspections, QA/QC observations, and installation monitoring
  • Conduct facility condition assessments and Property Condition Assessments (PCA)
  • Inspect canopies, overhangs, façades, and exterior building elements
  • Evaluate roof and envelope distress including leaks, wind damage, and material failures
  • Perform IBC Chapter 17 Special Inspections (structural steel, fireproofing, concrete, masonry, soils)
  • Document findings through written reports and photo documentation
  • Support repair, replacement, and capital planning recommendations
