About The Position

The position of Facilities Repair and Maintenance Technician (FRMT) is responsible for performing skilled maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the facilities and equipment. The FRMT ensures that buildings, systems, and properties are safe, functional, and well-maintained to support the safety and functionality of daily operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (pass aptitude test) and Certificate in building construction or facilities maintenance
  • Minimum of six months of janitorial experience in a healthcare or similar setting
  • Minimum of two years of experience or documented training in building constructions trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment.
  • If there is no vocational training as listed above, a Healthcare Facility Technician Certification is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must an insured personal vehicle.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, SharePoint and online ticket system platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to effectively resolve conflicts.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out the meaning of the CSMD Mission and Vision statements.
  • Practice a culture of safety to reduce or prevent risk of injury, claims, loss, or liability by utilizing the Risk Management and Infection Control Plan.
  • Perform responsibilities with a high-quality standard to yield improved compliance, quality, and patient outcome measures by adhering to the Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Be present and ready for work as scheduled.
  • Attend in-service trainings, departmental meetings, and community events.
  • Work cohesively with team members.
  • Services, repairs and maintains all equipment as assigned or in accordance with preventative maintenance programs per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Performs repairs, safety inspections, and upgrades to a variety of building systems as assigned.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses any equipment issues and determines the best course of action for completing the repair.
  • Keeps records of all work and preventative maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Performs facility upkeep, such as pressure washing, painting, floor buffing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC maintenance, building interior and exterior maintenance, such as wall repair, excluding lawncare, and other general duties to ensure that all facilities are presentable and in line with departmental standards.
  • Collaborates with other maintenance staff and contractors to coordinate repairs, installations, and improvements.
  • Conducts and records regular inspections of machines and equipment.
  • Maintains accurate and currents records on all repairs for all maintenance, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing work via maintenance log or online ticket method. Records may be used to prove eligibility for utilization of warranties, if needed.
  • Meets weekly with the supervisor, or as needed to discuss special needs, problems, and assignments.
  • Adheres to a sanitation and cleaning schedule checklist in accordance with OSHA and industry-specific guidelines.
  • Performs all daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning requirements, including but not limited to vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, cleaning wall and light fixtures/coverings, and inspection/replacement of light bulbs as needed, etc.
  • Maintains and sanitizes lobby, waiting rooms, and other clinic areas. Clean glass entry and reception areas of fingerprints, smudges, etc.
  • Clean spills and/or accidents following proper protocol and guidelines.
  • Executes maintenance needs from wear and tear including but not limited to patching and painting.
  • Be available to guide contractors, vendors and/or other staff members to areas or equipment needing preventive maintenance, repairs, or installation.
  • Regularly surveys facility, grounds, and equipment and report issues, as necessary.
  • Maintains outside of facility by raking debris and cleaning sidewalks and keeping entry areas clear of trash, leaves, with close attention to safety during inclement weather conditions.
  • Perform routine daily check of thermostats, air/heat flow, interior and exterior lights, etc. for proper working conditions.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, become familiar with various checklists and log sheets for maintenance schedules of various equipment including but not limited to generators, heating and cooling systems, etc.
  • Ensures the security of buildings through locks and security systems at the beginning and end of each business day.
  • Keep the Director of Facilities, or designee informed of any safety concerns.
  • Responds to emergency problems if applicable to job functions.
  • Maintain skill and safety level to operate numerical calculations, cleaning equipment, precision tools, and manual and finger dexterity.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, or designee obtain instructions for retrieving and delivering packages, equipment, supplies, and/or documents to and from various sites.
  • Load and unload if and where needed.
  • Performs other facilities duties upon request of the Director of Facilities or designee, including but not limited to routine and specific repairing of equipment, furniture, cabinetry, chairs, desks, file cabinets and fixtures, hanging objects, moving and assembling furniture/equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities.
