About The Position

The Project Engineer will serve as a technical lead and project execution specialist within the Facilities Engineering team. The Project Engineer will manage small to mid-scale engineering projects, support capital planning, and ensure compliance with healthcare construction standards. He/she will be responsible for the development and maintenance of project scopes, schedules, and budgets; the preparation of project planning and project update meetings; and reporting on assigned project statuses. The primary role of the Facilities Project Engineer is to facilitate successful project delivery by effectively managing project schedules, budgets, contracts, permits, project milestones, parts and material, tools, and equipment, specialized documentation and equipment access, and reporting for all assigned projects.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Three years in Facilities Engineering or Construction.
  • Two years of experience in a construction-related role as a Project Coordinator, Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook.
  • Proficient at reading and understanding technical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems, healthcare codes, and infection control protocols.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Two years of experience in construction-related work in a healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of the key facility trends impacting the healthcare industry – patient centered care, sustainability, operational efficiency, departmental adjacencies, etc.
  • Lean Process Improvement knowledge and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Excel in all phases of Facilities Engineering projects, including the submittal & RFI process, document control, estimating assistance, subcontractor proposal review, meeting minutes, permitting, material expediting, scheduling, coordination, and close-out.
  • Provide technical support for design reviews, permitting, and construction administration.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, life safety, and regulatory standards for healthcare construction.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation including work orders, schedules, and compliance records.
  • Support and participate in Engineering and Project Management Office (PMO) project meetings and contribute to capital project tracking.
  • Collaborate with internal departments including, but not limited to PMO, Supply Chain, Infection Control, IT, and Safety Committees to ensure safe and effective project execution.
  • Communicate frequently and effectively with project stakeholders and organization leadership.
  • Assist with construction safety enforcement and awareness.
  • Serve as a liaison between engineering, contractors, and clinical and clinical teams to ensure project alignment with operational needs.
  • Document all major project/program occurrences (RFIs, meetings, discussions, decisions, changes orders, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
