About The Position

Perform at a general/basic level in at least one Industrial/Commercial trade craft (Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Structural, Instrumentation/Electronics, Refrigeration, Electronics /Fire Alarms) for maintenance and repair of specialized equipment/machinery. The successful candidate may be required to pass a Department of Justice security clearance.

Requirements

High School diploma or recognized equivalent and basic knowledge in industrial /commercial craft/trade as approved by Property Services Leadership (i.e., Plumbing, Mechanical, HVAC, Structural, Instrumentation/Electronics, Refrigeration, Electronics/Fire Alarms).
Two years of general experience working in at least one of the above-mentioned crafts.
Must be capable of demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job in a post-offer employment test as administered by UTMB Rehab Services.
This job requires the ability to lift up to 100 lbs. from the floor to the knuckle and requires frequent bending, standing, and walking.

Responsibilities

Serves as the primary point of contact for customers for all Property Services (Physical Plant).
Performs detailed inspections of equipment for proper operation. Inform appropriate personnel of unusual conditions, problems, or deficiencies.
Performs preventative or corrective maintenance tasks.
Start up, shut down, and adjust equipment or systems in accordance with established operational and safety procedures.
Assists in major maintenance repairs.
Performs duties associated with all crafts, as developing skills safely allows.
Support area shift coverage, on-call duties, and after-hours or extended projects as needed for an institution that operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Participate in disaster/hurricane preparedness list, i.e., E1A (Ride out team) or E1B (Recovery team).
Complete all UTMB-required compliance training.
Attend staff training and safety meetings.
Identifies and reports safety hazards.
Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
Performs related duties as required.
