About The Position

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all. Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever. Micron’s Global Facilities Group is responsible for the planning, development, construction, commissioning, and operation of elite semiconductor manufacturing infrastructure across Micron’s headquarters, Boise site. The team delivers robust, compliant, and scalable basebuild facility systems that enable advanced manufacturing and R&D operations. Partnering with Manufacturing, Construction, Safety, Procurement, and external design teams, the group ensures facility systems meet Micron’s global standards while supporting long-term operational excellence. This role is part of the facilities engineering organization that serves as the system owner and authority for critical basebuild infrastructure from concept through steady-state operation. Take a key role in planning, designing, constructing, commissioning, and owning facilities basebuild systems that support semiconductor manufacturing and R&D environments. You will define scope, develop budgets, guide design and construction execution, and ultimately assume long-term ownership of facility systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring facilities infrastructure is safe, reliable, code-compliant, and optimized for lifecycle performance. This is an opportunity to work as a trusted technical owner within a high‑tech manufacturing environment, influencing facility solutions from early concept through operational handoff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering (Facilities, or related field) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience in facilities engineering, infrastructure design, construction, or system ownership within semiconductor or high‑tech manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of building systems, engineering standards, and safety codes applicable to industrial facilities.
  • Experience developing scopes, budgets, cost estimates, and contractor bid documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects across design, construction, commissioning, and operational phases.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience serving as a system owner or SME for facilities basebuild infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with construction oversight and commissioning in active manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with lifecycle asset management, reliability, and operational support of facility systems.
  • Experience working within global engineering standards and corporate governance frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the system owner and technical SME for assigned facilities basebuild systems supporting semiconductor manufacturing, office, and R&D environments.
  • Drive company goals and manage facilities programs such as EOL (end of life), sustainability, both indirect and direct emissions, TPM (total productive management), global specification alignments.
  • Lead engineering support for facility layout changes and infrastructure modifications with a focus on operational efficiency, space utilization, and lifecycle reliability.
  • Prepare bid packages, scopes of work, and contract documentation for facilities construction and infrastructure acquisition.
  • Partner with external design teams to develop engineering designs that meet functional requirements, building codes, safety laws, and Micron standards.
  • Provide technical guidance during construction to ensure conformance with approved drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and schedules.
  • Lead and support commissioning activities to verify systems perform as intended and meet operational and safety requirements prior to turnover.
  • Develop engineering criteria, design standards, and performance specifications tailored to unique operating requirements and regulatory constraints.
  • Ensure all facility systems align with applicable local, state, and federal codes, environmental regulations, and internal governance requirements.
  • Collaborate multi-functionally with Manufacturing, Construction, Safety, Procurement, and Operations teams throughout the full project lifecycle.
