About The Position

The 3rd Shift Facilities Manager oversees custodial services in an academic & residential setting. The position has responsibility for the nightly supervision of the general cleaners. It ensures proper completion of cleaning in accordance with specifications and guidelines pertaining to APPA 2. This position is required for conducting walk-through rounds frequently during the entire overnight shift.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of cleaning practices and APPA standards and certification a plus.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • 5-years of previous managerial experience in cleaning, maintenance, or other related fields.
  • 10-years of experience working in a union environment.
  • Familiarity with maintenance functions; predictive, corrective, and routine work requests as well as developing SOPs and communicating them to a large team successfully.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel, Visio, Project, and web browsing ideal.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills a must.
  • Ability to work in a group or independently and actively communicate work results accurately.
  • Superb follow-up skills and documentation.
  • Proficient in multi-tasking and prioritizing time sensitive activities is critical.
  • Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors, inspects, and coordinates the daily, periodic and project workloads for custodial staff and outside service providers or contractors.
  • Ensures adherence to established UG2 & APPA standards and assists collaboratively in the creation of additional robust standards. Works cooperatively with administration, other stakeholders and custodial staff in evaluating site needs, developing custodial cleaning schedules and recommending equipment and supplies to support projects and daily
  • Develops look-ahead staffing schedules, cleaning schedules and coordinates with other managers on upcoming event Works in support of the Assistant Director of Custodial Operations to ensure that large event clean-ups, setups and breakdowns are occurring on the overnight shift.
  • Completes tasks such as entering payroll data, tracking attendance, completing reports, counseling, and disciplining in accordance with established UG2 policies.
  • Processes work requests, defines key tasks, estimates duration, identifies constraints, and assigns appropriate Responsible for ensuring requests are completed and don’t pose a risk to the quality of services provided with alignment of SLA priority timelines.
  • Assists with inventory planning and controls, requesting supplies and Forecasts orders to established par levels for standing material stock.
  • Conducts team meetings and provides training as needed for the purpose of disseminating information to custodians. Evaluates means and methods of cleaning program with Forepersons over the course of daily work.
  • Evaluates custodial employee performance, with input from administrators and other staff for the purpose of promoting professional growth and ensuring adherence to area employment
  • Monitors safe working conditions and adherence to safety programs for the purpose of ensuring efficient practices and promoting proper working Collaborates with Site Safety Manager for support of UG2 culture on safety.
  • Delivers the highest level of customer service when interfacing with university personnel, students, or other stakeholders.
  • Reports safety hazards and repair needs to appropriate personnel for the purpose of ensuring safe and efficient facilities.
  • Research and tests new custodial methods, supplies, and equipment for the purpose of improving custodial services.
