About The Position

The Facilities Management Director is responsible for the repair, preventative maintenance, and oversight of all Center-owned and leased properties, and capital items within forecasted budgets. Work involves planning, assigning, scheduling, and oversight of workforce members for the installation, care, and repair of Center facilities, and equipment. The Director will have knowledge of general repairs of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems as well as and will oversee some repairs directly. The Director is responsible for maintaining safe, clean, and professional facilities, , and other equipment for the Center. Responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing building use, operations, and maintenance. Acts as liaison with other agencies and organizations including City, County and State government contacts to coordinate activities. Responsible for managing a team of multiple staff and guiding them to oversee facilities and maintenance. Monitors expenditures for approved replacement of equipment or repairs to buildings. Responsible for implementing and maintaining communication/telecommunications in conjunction with IT/MIS, Fiscal and other center departments. Monitor and evaluate the performance of assigned third-party project managers and service providers. Responsible for oversight of the internal control procedures relating to Center assets and maintaining an accurate listing of all Center assets along with Fiscal Services and Management Information Services. Oversees RFP’s for the construction or renovation of facilities. Oversees work order requests to ensure that orders are completed in a timely manner. Maintain records and reports required and communicate to CFO and other internal staff. Ensures all facility managers complete periodic safety drills (tornado, fire, bomb, etc.) and monthly facility reports. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Works on call weekends if needed.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of general building maintenance and construction practices, including building and grounds maintenance, construction techniques, plumbing, heating/air conditioning systems, electrical systems, sanitation practices, fire and safety regulations and procedures, painting, carpentry, inspection procedures and local building codes.
  • Ability to read, analyze, understand, interpret, and negotiate purchase agreements, technical procedures, and governmental purchasing regulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of best business practices.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and thoroughly present information and respond to questions from internal staff, customers, officials, members of City and County agencies and the general public.
  • Works internally with the Chief Officers, Executive Team, Fiscal, Compliance and/or Purchasing to apply mathematical skills to determine costs, allocations & to obtain "Best Value" for planning, maintaining, and coordinating repairs to Center assets.
  • Ability to manage and supervise team of staff members and contractors who maintain Center buildings and vehicles.
  • Ability to organize preventive maintenance programs and work with points of contact at each Center location.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and finance.
  • Proficient skill in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Must be well organized, detail oriented and have ability to multi-task and prioritize work schedules.
