This part-time position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Facilities Director, the Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for the cleanliness, safety, appearance and improvement of the facility and property. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ensures Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed in the maintenance and upkeep of assigned areas and equipment. May perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, vacuuming, recycling, window washing, pool cleaning, pressure washing, cleaning and replacing soap, paper towels and other supplies. Other duties may include but are not limited to periodic updates to facility plans, developing and implementing projects in support of the YMCA strategic plan and community needs. Communicates status of projects and routine cleaning assignments. Anticipates risk, implications, and possible outcomes before taking action. Assists Facilities Director with minor repairs. Works with outside agencies such as fire, health, building depts., etc. to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities and grounds. Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment. Records and reports all needed repairs. Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shifts and reports and documents all incidents and hazardous conditions to the supervisor. Ensures set up/break down of special events programs, including Birthday Parties. Understands and utilizes appropriate ergonomic safety techniques. Attend meetings as directed. Other duties/tasks as assigned.
