About The Position

EastView at Middlebury, a vibrant nonprofit senior living community, is seeking a hands-on, solutions focused Maintenance Technician with strong experience in HVAC, electrical, and plumbing to join our Facilities team. This role supports the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents across our beautiful campus. If you enjoy fixing things, figuring out how systems work, and seeing the immediate impact of your work, this role is for you. You’ll work across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance projects — no two days are exactly the same. We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, solves problems quickly, takes pride in doing quality work, and enjoys meeting new people. In this role, you’ll play a key part in keeping our community safe, comfortable, and running smoothly for everyone who lives and works here.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in HVAC, electrical, and plumbing required.
  • Knowledge of building systems, mechanical equipment, and general maintenance best practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot independently and collaborate effectively with a team.
  • Strong communication, customer service skills, and a calm demeanor under pressure.
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, and work indoors/outdoors in all seasons.
  • Valid, clean driver’s license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Universal HVAC certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • General & Technical Maintenance Perform repairs and preventive maintenance across campus, with a focus on: HVAC systems, electrical troubleshooting, plumbing repairs, carpentry, adaptive equipment, and general grounds care.
  • Monitor and maintain systems, including fire alarms, motion sensors, and nurse call systems.
  • Complete daily work orders and follow maintenance schedules while meeting quality and safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers, residents, and leadership regarding repair status and emerging issues.
  • Preventive Maintenance Conduct routine inspections and scheduled maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and support capital replacement planning.
  • Assist with seasonal grounds work and campus-wide snow removal.
  • Support compliance with state and federal building and safety regulations.
  • Renovations & Special Projects Assist with renovation projects, unit turnovers, and campus improvements.
  • Lead special projects aligned with your technical strengths.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors and ensure work meets EastView’s expectations.
  • Cross-train in additional technical areas as needed.
  • Emergency Response Respond promptly to campus-wide emergencies related to physical plant, resident safety, and building systems.
  • Support public safety teams with communication, security, traffic control, and documentation.
  • Safety & Resident Service Follow all safety protocols, equipment guidelines, PPE requirements, and infection control practices.
  • Interact with residents in a friendly, respectful, service-focused manner.
  • Maintain awareness of resident needs and report safety concerns promptly.
