About The Position

1. Under the direction of the Assistant Manager, Facilities and Facilities Maintenance Tech III, this position is responsible for the maintenance of all terminal facilities including rail switches, electrical, plumbing, welding, carpentry, painting, alarm and security systems, paving, dock fendering system, landscape maintenance and irrigation systems. 2. Maintains and repairs electrical distribution for secondary voltage systems and water utility systems throughout the terminal, including irrigation systems, plumbing and has a thorough understanding of drainage systems and land surveying. 3. Inspects and repairs fire and security alarm systems. 4. Acts as lead on repair crews and assists contractors to ensure quality control. 5. Prepares material lists on repair and construction projects, estimates costs and orders material as directed. 6. Maintains and repairs terminal and tenant facilities as required, performs repairs and remodeling of JAXPORT assets, including warehouses, roofs, siding and interiors as well as sheet rock finishing. 7. Constructs and repairs wood, metal and concrete structures, including extensive knowledge in carpentry from rough framing to finish work. 8. Operates backhoe, grader, bulldozer, mobile crane, painting equipment, forklift, high reach, street sweeper, dump truck, and water truck. Operates or assists with computer operated sign machine. Install metal and plastic signs on buildings and roadways. Assist contractors with the location of underground utilities by technical expertise and use of specialized detection equipment. 9. Directs and assists Maintenance Tech I with the maintenance of marine fendering systems as well as all aspects of facility maintenance, including storm drainage structure repairs. 10. Maintains dredge spoil sites as directed by Engineering Department. 11. Aids in the direction and assistance to passenger operations for embark and debark procedures. Organizes and arranges passenger directional aids and ensures their accurate placement prior to passenger operations. 12. Ensures that all security and traffic barriers are in place prior to cruise operations. 13. Maintains assigned equipment and work areas in a clean, organized and professional manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three to five years’ maintenance experience required.
  • Understanding of secondary voltage electrical distribution systems required.
  • Familiarity with building codes required.
  • Ability to perform material estimates for repair or new construction required.
  • Must be able to adapt to frequent changes in work schedule and job assignments.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and work from engineering documents.
  • Must be able to interpret FDOT highway safety manuals relating to sign installation.
  • Valid driver license is required and must be maintained during employment.
  • Class B Florida CDL is required and must be maintained during employment.
  • This position is designated as safety sensitive and is subject to pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) during employment.

  • Completion of college level industrial/facility maintenance courses preferred.
