What you will be doing: Maintain Facility systems (HVAC, air, DI water, cooling systems, process control, exhaust, make-up air, fire detection, suppression) Perform preventative maintenance and daily checks on building systems Installation of new systems or modifications of existing systems Maintain infrastructure and building grounds Routine Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of the building’s systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, to identify maintenance needs and ensure compliance with safety regulations Repairs and Maintenance: Perform hands-on repairs such as carpentry, painting, drywall work, and fixing plumbing or electrical issues. This includes addressing wear and tear throughout the facility Preventive Maintenance: Execute a preventive maintenance schedule for mechanical equipment to ensure operational reliability and extend the service life of systems Respond to Requests: Address maintenance requests from employees promptly, tracking the status and completion of all work orders Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other staff and department heads to ensure all maintenance needs are met. This includes coordinating with external contractors for specialized services Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and tools, ordering new items as required to support ongoing operations Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations by maintaining fire protection systems, emergency lighting, and clear egress routes What you will bring along: High School diploma or equivalent. Technical school/Associate degree a plus 2-4 years of experience Working weekends, evenings and other overtime is a requirement Background in facility maintenance and troubleshooting issues Ability to read electrical schematics and drawings and follow written instructions Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds Must have experience in the use of hand tools, power tools Ability to learn electrical, plumbing, air conditioning and other mechanical skills Must have current California driver’s license Computer skills, data entry experience and proven working knowledge of computer usage (Word, Excel) Proficient in English. Must have good English communication skills, both written and verbal Strong interpersonal skills and team orientation, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people Attention to detail to ensure all maintenance tasks are completed to a high standard Able to prioritize job flows, schedule and manage time efficiently Strong problem solving and multi-tasking abilities required - Ability to assess situations and formulate effective solutions in a timely manner Well organized and able to work independently Work Environment Work is performed primarily in an office/lab environment; adheres to required safety and dress standards to prevent exposure to hazardous materials. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, talk, and listen. May be required to sit, stand, walk for periods of time; bend, stoop, and twist using full range of motion; perform various repetitive fine grasping motions; uses a variety of small hand tools to perform various operations when required; lift 25 to 50 pounds, operate a computer and enter information using a keyboard, operate a telephone, and other office equipment for an extended period of time. As some visual inspection duties will also be required, specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Some physical strength and stamina are required for regular cleaning duties. May be exposed to hot/cold conditions, high-volume noise, exposure to stored energy hazards (electricity, compressed gases, etc.), and/or hazardous materials such as chemicals (e.g. alcohol, acetone, acids, solvents and photo resist) or particulate matter. May be requested to work overtime and weekends to suit operational needs.
