About The Position

The Maintenance Technician I/II Performs routine facility and equipment maintenance (either with direct or indirect supervision), monitors and operates the HVAC systems. The FMT is responsible for the ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and other installed systems including fire and security alarms. This role requires day-to-day coordination of building maintenance (reactive and preventive). Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, repair, install, replace, and service various types of facility equipment and systems to include:Mechanical, plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, equipment operator, carpenter, painter, and/or locksmith. Maintain process water and equipment including preventative maintenance tasks, and operational data. Maintain electrical distribution and equipment including preventative maintenance tasks, and operational data. Maintain compressed air systems and equipment including preventative maintenance tasks, and operational data. Operate and maintain boilers and associated equipment, and piping systems, including preventative maintenance tasks, and operational data. Assists in maintaining WFI water treatment, storage and distribution system. Perform routine checks and inspections to ensure that all systems are functioning properly. Evaluate equipment breakdown and conduct mechanical/electrical troubleshooting. Order and maintain replacement and spare parts for the facility and equipment. Maintains thorough knowledge of GMP, SOP and FDA requirements. Performs snow removal as required. Documents facilities maintenance requirements; creates and maintains appropriate records of work performed in the computerized maintenance management system. Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of resources. Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Interacts with manufacturers, vendors, and operations to resolve issues and concerns.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Ability to work nights and weekends required
  • 0-3 Years' experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified in a campus environment, plant facility, or related industry (preferably pharmaceutical).Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis required
  • Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment required
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures required
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade required
  • Ability to repair and maintain appliances and heating and cooling equipment required
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures required
  • Pays attention to detail; work is accurate and meets all standards and requirements required
  • Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds required
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
  • 3-5 Years' experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified in a campus environment, plant facility, or related industry (preferably pharmaceutical).

Nice To Haves

  • City of Spokane third-class boiler operator's license desired
  • Spokane Gas Heating Mechanic's 1 License desired
  • EPA 608 Universal Refrigerant Handling License desired
  • WA L&I Electrical Trainee License desired
  • Knowledge of one or more building trades desired
