About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor position provides facilities support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor. The Job Corps program is a federally-funded residential training program. The mission of JobCorps is to provide career-ready technical and academic training and job placement assistance to program eligible youth ages 16-24. Description of Duties: Responsible for the supervision of the facilities maintenance department in compliance with government and management directives while providing for the safety and welfare of students, staff, and the facilities. Directly supervises maintenance technicians and Custodian.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with technical training and six years experience in building, ground and equipment maintenance, one of which should be in a supervisory capacity.
  • Familiarization with building systems (electrical, mechanical, HVAC, etc.)
  • Valid state driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and direct the administrative and programmatic activities of the facilities maintenance department.
  • Plan, determine work priorities, schedules, supervise, and direct the work of professional and nonprofessional technical support staff. Set priorities for routine and non-routine work orders; track work to ensure orders are completed.
  • Assist with departmental preparation and maintenance of departmental budgeting; monitor and control expenditures.
  • Develop and ensure adherence to the facility and preventative maintenance plans. Formulate and enforce policies, procedures, and standards in maintenance.
  • Establish policies and procedures, develop and set short and long range goals, monitor and evaluate progress and performance, and adjust resources to accomplish objectives.
  • Provide training on new equipment and safety issues. Supervise the department’s program on awareness and prevention of health and safety issues and assure the department complies with federal and state safety and health regulations and codes.
  • Conduct regular inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  • Confer with center staff concerning the analysis, probably methods, and implementation of maintenance procedures for more efficient, economical, and integrated operations.
  • Regularly assess and audit department for contractual compliance and quality of services to students; prepare audit and assessment reports.
  • Review and evaluate maintenance cost of equipment. Recommend retirement and/or replacement of units which reflect excessive maintenance costs.
  • Utilize automated preventative maintenance and work order systems.
  • Review and process accident/injury reports to job related injuries. Identify unsafe practices and establish strategy for suitable corrective measures to manage the risk of accident and injury loss in accordance with DOL, the PRH, the center policies, and other appropriate codes and regulations.
  • Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
  • Cultivate and maintain a climate on center, which is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
  • Promote the development of career success standards through modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students, monitoring student skill acquisition and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Finance and Administration Director and center management.
  • Properly direct, evaluate and discipline staff in accordance with corporate policies, center directives and government requirements.
