Scope of Position This strategic-thinking individual is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant production equipment, utilities, and supporting facility systems. The Facilities Manager leads preventive and predictive maintenance programs, drives equipment uptime improvement, oversees maintenance personnel, and supports capital projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and new process development. The Maintenance Manager ensures compliance with OSHA and all site safety regulations, and fosters a culture of operational excellence, technical capability, and continuous improvement. This position is responsible for supervision of 13 Maintenance Technicians. This position reports to the Director of Operations is onsite and is based in Franklin, NH. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities 1. Maintenance Operations Leadership Oversee timely and effective repair of all plant equipment, utilities, and facility systems. Manage the daily activities of maintenance technicians across all shifts. Develop, implement, and continuously enhance core maintenance systems, including: Preventive and Predictive Maintenance (PM/PdM) programs Work order management processes Spare parts inventory and procurement systems Maintenance skills training programs Department KPIs and reporting Mandatory MP2/CMMS usage and training Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and chronic downtime issues. Document and train maintenance personnel on standard repair procedures and troubleshooting methods. Ensure proper tools, equipment, and replacement parts are identified, procured, and maintained. 2. Project & Continuous Improvement Support Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives involving equipment optimization, line performance, and cost reduction utilizing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. Support new process and equipment introduction, including design reviews, installation planning, commissioning, and documentation. Coordinate major equipment repairs, rebuilds, upgrades, and layout changes. Work cross-functionally with engineering, production, quality, tooling, facilities, and materials management on technical projects. Communicate design intent to CAD designers for machine component and tooling development. 3. Financial & Vendor Management Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget, including repairs, spare parts, and contracted services. Request and evaluate quotes for external service providers (electrical, mechanical, automation, construction, etc.). Oversee on-site vendor activities ensuring safety compliance, quality of work, and alignment with project requirements. 4. Safety & Regulatory Compliance Ensure all maintenance activities comply with OSHA regulations and internal safety policies. Conduct safety training for maintenance staff and reinforce safe work practices. Support environmental, health, and safety programs related to equipment, energy systems, and facility infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field; Equivalent experience in plant engineering or mechanical/electrical maintenance may be considered.
  • 5+ years of maintenance or engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven background in troubleshooting and maintaining automated and electromechanical equipment.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement, equipment upgrades, and capital or process development projects.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles, machine design, and industrial controls.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Microsoft Project experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
  • Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks and required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.
  • Demonstrated success managing and developing technical teams.
  • Strong communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities (RCA, FMEA, 5-Why, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
