About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Helper is responsible for performing routine exterior and interior inspection, repair, and maintenance for the entire facility, including onsite employee housing. This role involves a wide variety of general and semiskilled maintenance activities such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and sheetrock. The helper will proactively fix and repair items, complete quarterly preventative maintenance logs, and perform weekly safety checks to ensure a safe and clean environment. Additional duties include arranging furniture for special events, performing daily grounds keeping and lawn maintenance, and maintaining organized and clean work areas. The position also requires tasks like picking up trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, replacing lighting, moving stock, and performing minor repairs, as well as cleaning floors, restrooms, and emptying trash. The Facilities Maintenance Helper must constantly observe the property's condition and report/correct unsafe conditions, working productively without constant supervision and performing other tasks as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • Locals only, must live within 60 miles
  • Applicant must be able to pass all background screenings
  • Must have at least 3-6 months' of experience as a maintenance worker in one or more of the basic building maintenance trades
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include off-shift hours and weekend assignments
  • Must be able to operate a forklift and small construction equipment
  • Knowledge and experience using basic power and manual tools effectively
  • Knowledge of general facility maintenance operations and procedures
  • Must be able to lift and stack objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and frequently exert 10 to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects
  • Able to manage frequent periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing ladders and staircases
  • Ability to work in indoor or out-door work environment with exposure to weather extremes
  • Ability to communicate clearly with managers and other personnel

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine exterior and interior inspection, repair and maintenance necessary for the entire facility, including onsite employee housing
  • Perform a wide variety of general and semiskilled maintenance activities, e.g. carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, sheetrock, for the purpose of repair and completing projects within established time frames
  • Proactively fix and repair items as identified, and as reported by occupants in employee housing
  • Complete and maintain a quarterly preventative maintenance log
  • Perform weekly safety checks throughout the facility to ensure a safe and clean environment and eliminate all hazards
  • Arrange furniture and equipment and provide adequate preparations for special events
  • Perform general grounds keeping on a daily and as-needed basis
  • Lawn maintenance as needed
  • Keep work areas and buildings organized, neat, clean, free from clutter and safe
  • Pick up trash, sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, replace lighting, move stock, and perform minor repairs
  • Clean floors, clean restrooms, empty trash, and maintain clean receptacles
  • Constantly observe condition of property and immediately report and/or initiates action to correct unsafe conditions
  • Work productively without constant supervision
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager
