About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all facility systems within an industrial manufacturing environment. This role oversees the maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of building infrastructure—including electrical systems, lighting, HVAC, plumbing, compressed air, and general utilities—to support uninterrupted production operations. They will serve as the technical expert for facility equipment, leads preventive maintenance programs, and partners closely with operations, safety, and engineering teams to maintain a world‑class manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline; or a combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years of experience in facilities maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical distribution, lighting, and building utilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Hands‑on troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
  • Experience with CMMS systems and preventive maintenance planning.
  • Strong problem‑solving and root‑cause analysis skills
  • Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • High attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Self‑directed with strong ownership of responsibilities

  • Ability to obtain and maintain required DOE and/or NRC security access authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility systems including lighting, HVAC, boilers/chillers, air handling units, plumbing, and building electrical distribution.
  • Oversee maintenance of building structure, roofing, flooring, and general infrastructure.
  • Ensure all facility utilities (compressed air, water, gas, power) operate reliably and meet production requirements.
  • Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs for facility assets.
  • Manage and optimize building automation systems (BAS) and energy‑management systems.
  • Lead facility‑related capital projects, upgrades, and equipment installations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency, reduce downtime, and extend asset life.
  • Coordinate contractors, vendors, and service providers for specialized maintenance or construction work.
  • Prepare project scopes, budgets, timelines, and documentation.
  • Ensure all facility systems comply with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and local building codes.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment documentation, and facility drawings.
  • Support environmental, health, and safety initiatives, including audits and corrective actions.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections to identify hazards, risks, or maintenance needs.
  • Provide rapid response to facility‑related issues that impact production or employee safety.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to support new equipment layouts, utility connections, and process changes.
  • Participate in on‑call rotation or after‑hours support as needed.
